Beer Battered Onion Rings with Southwestern Style Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oil

Batter

  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 2 tsp dried parsley
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup beer
  • 3 large onions sliced into rings

Southwestern Dipping Sauce

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cumin

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine flour, egg, parsley, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper.
  • Gradually add add beer, stirring, until a thick batter forms. Add more or less beer depending on the desired consistency of the batter.
  • In a heavy frying pan heat oil over medium-high heat.
  • When oil is hot, dip onion in batter and fry, turning once to brown evenly on both sides.
  • Drain on paper towel.
  • Dipping Sauce
  • In a small bowl, combine milk, tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, sriracha, cayenne pepper, chili powder, smoked paprika, black pepper and cumin.
  • Mix until all ingredients are combined.
